With the NFL Draft in the books, rosters are finally beginning to take shape. That's good news for aging veterans like Richard Sherman, as in the post-draft period organizations now have a much better understanding of their needs heading into the 2021 campaign.
And there's no shortage of teams that could use the 33-year-old CB's services. With that in mind, here's a look at the best free-agent destinations for the five-time Pro Bowler.
Richard Sherman Rumors
3. Seattle Seahawks
There have been rumblings of a potential reunion between Sherman and the Seattle Seahawks. If he's willing to return, he'd be a great pickup. Seattle has some pretty clear holes in the secondary. Losing its best corner last year, Shaquill Griffin, in free agency certainly doesn't help matters. Returning to Seattle would also allow Sherman to play for a contender, which you have to assume he values.
2. New York Jets
Cornerback was one of the New York Jets' biggest needs entering the NFL Draft. They chose not to address it in the first two rounds, opting for three consecutive offensive players. You have to think the organization would've spent one of its two third-round picks on a CB had it not spent both to the Minnesota Vikings to trade up for Alijah Vera-Tucker. New York did add three corners with fifth- and sixth-round picks, but that's likely not enough. Sherman would step in and immediately be the best corner on this team, and he made a Pro Bowl under new Jets' coach Robert Saleh back in 2019.
1. Las Vegas Raiders
The Las Vegas Raiders have been heavily linked to Sherman throughout the offseason. Some even viewed Jon Gruden's comments about the veteran as tampering. Regardless, Las Vegas is clearly interested. And while the team added a ton of talent to the secondary via the draft, fifth-round pick Nate Hobbs is the only pure corner it picked up. Sherman could be the veteran mentor and leader that this young secondary needs.
