Most Likely Free Agent Destinations for Jadeveon Clowney Following Jamal Adams Trade

The Seattle Seahawks made a blockbuster trade over the weekend to acquire All-Pro safety Jamal Adams. The Seahawks sent two first-round picks, a third-round pick, and Bradley McDougald to the New York Jets in exchange for the disgruntled superstar, leaving the Seahawks in win-now mode.

Here are three possible destinations for Clowney this offseason.
1. Seattle Seahawks
This trade will affect the market for free agent defensive end Jadeveon Clowney, who is still yet to be signed after playing for the Seahawks last season. The huge acquisition of Adams has likely changed the market on Clowney, as the Seahawks can now make a better case to re-sign him. The Seahawks still have $17 million in cap room and could make even more room for Clowney. The trade does not significantly affect the Seahawks' cap availability right now, leaving the front office with enough room to sign Clowney if they want to. The prospect of joining Adams, who has already begun to lobby for Clowney to join the team, could be a major draw for the talented defensive end. The Seahawks are clearly eager to rebuild the defensive powerhouse that won them a Super Bowl in 2015, so they could still make a good pitch for Clowney.
2. New Orleans Saints
The New Orleans Saints are in need of a defensive lineman to pair alongside Cameron Jordan. While the Saints have just $8.7 million in cap space right now, they could quickly make room to sign a defensive end of his caliber. Saints players have already made a case for Clowney to come to New Orleans, and he's indicated that he wants to play for a competitor to restore some of his value. The Saints will now want to get a deal done quickly if the Seahawks are now in a good position. However, negotiations will likely drag up to the start of training camp.
3. Tennessee Titans
Because Clowney still hasn't signed a contract late into the free-agent signing period, the state of negotiations is very up in the air. The Titans have expressed interest in signing Clowney, and Kenny Vaccaro has already tried to lobby him to sign. The Titans don't have much cap room after handing out huge extensions to Derrick Henry and Ryan Tannehill, but they could make room for Clowney with some cuts. The Titans need help on the defensive line, so Clowney could work here.
