Both the American League and National League playoff races are coming down to the wire. Some clear favorites have emerged in the race for the various division titles, but the Wild Card hunt remains tight in the American League.

The New York Yankees hold the No. 1 Wild Card spot in the American League, with a 2.0-game lead over both the Boston Red Sox and Seattle Mariners. Seattle has won 9 of their last 10 ballgames to get into the postseason picture. After dropping two of three games to the Yankees, the Toronto Blue Jays now sit 1.0-game out of the second Wild Card spot.

If two teams end the season on Sunday tied for the second Wild Card spot, a winner-take-all game 163 will be scheduled to decide the final postseason spot. If the No. 1 Wild Card and No. 2 Wild Card teams end with a tied record, home-field advantage goes to the winner of the season series.

While the MLB playoff picture can change on a daily basis, it's good to know where things stand as the season's end nears.
