Two of the biggest questions on baseball fans' minds right now involve Aaron Judge. Where is he going to sign, and when is he going to sign?
Regarding the latter question, at least, one MLB insider believes it could be sooner rather than later.
Aaron Judge Free Agency Rumors
According to MLB Network's Jon Morosi, Judge could have a new contract by the end of the MLB Winter Meetings, which are taking place in San Diego from Dec. 4-7.
The 2022 AL MVP is scheduled to meet with the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday, who are making a hard push for Judge. Given his ties to the Bay area, they are considered one of the favorites to land him.
Considering that Judge is the biggest name in the 2022-23 free agent class, it makes sense that he'll likely be signed before long. Players typically like to wrap up negotiations before the end of the year if possible so they can relax during the holidays and start preparing for the upcoming season.
They'd much rather have that than protracted negotiations that drag out and potentially bleed into spring training, as Bryce Harper's did during 2019.
In any case, the pressure is on the New York Yankees if they want to keep Judge. The Giants look like legitimate threats to steal him away, so the Yankees will have to be aggressive if they want to keep Judge in the Bronx long-term.
