MLB Insider Dubs Rangers Potential Trade Destination for Versatile Defender

The Texas Rangers' 34-37 record is far from the best in the American League, however, they only sit seven games back from the final AL wild card spot. Barring a significant collapse, it's entirely possible that the Rangers will be buyers ahead of the MLB trade deadline.
One player that the Rangers could pursue is Cincinnati Reds infielder Brandon Drury, according to MLB insider Mark Feinsand. The 29-year-old is set to become a free agent at the end of the year, making $750,000 for the rest of the season.

Texas Rangers Trade Rumors
Injuries become more frequent as the season goes on and stocking up on depth is never a bad idea. Fortunately, Drury can help in that regard due to his history of being a versatile defender.
In the 2022 MLB season alone, Drury has played at least four innings at each infield position, with third base being his most frequent spot (295.2). He's also proven to be a solid outfielder in the past as well, having spent a total of 964.2 innings on the left and right sides.
Even though Drury is known for his versatility, his bat isn't too bad either. He's slashing .272/.331/.528 in 2022, leading Reds with 15 home runs and being tied for the team lead with 38 RBIs in 62 games played thus far.
Drury is one of the Reds' top trade chips and acquiring him won't be easy for the Rangers. The former 13th-round pick is sure to command plenty of attention in the coming weeks, meaning Texas may need to act fast to give its lineup a boost.
