The Dodgers just acquired three-time Cy Young winner Max Scherzer from the Washington Nationals to add more strength to their NL-best ERA. Los Angeles also added shortstop Trea Turner from the Nationals at the deadline.

The San Francisco Giants have proven they are a surprise no longer. They just took 2-of-3 games from rival Dodgers, and also beat Dodger Blue three out of four games less than two weeks ago. The Giants continue to lead the division, but the Dodgers remain the World Series favorites. The San Diego Padres are still in the race with the fourth-best record in the National League and the clear second wild card team heading into August.
