Mike Gesicki is considered one of the more reliable pass-catching tight ends in football, and it was no big surprise that the Miami Dolphins wanted to keep him around for at least one more year. The club placed a franchise tag on him for the 2022-23 season, however, he'll hit unrestricted free agency again this offseason.

New head coach Mike McDaniel doesn't place a huge emphasis on using tight ends as pass-catchers and the result has been Gesicki's least productive year since his rookie campaign.

Following Miami's Week 15 clash with the Buffalo Bills, Gesicki was caught exchanging words with Dawson Knox. He used this opportunity to throw some major shade at the Dolphins.

Gesicki told Knox repeatedly how happy he was for him, but the comments had a double-meaning. The Dolphins' tight end had some complaints to get off his chest. "I'm happy you got paid. I'm happy they're f****** using you."

It's hard to imagine that Gesicki will be a Dolphin once next year hits. He's simply not used enough in this system and the pass-catching tight end should be able to garner a decent yield on the open market.
