While Micah Parsons is already regarded as one of the best defensive players in the NFL, now he has some extra hardware to prove it.
Parsons became the first Dallas Cowboys player to win NFC Defensive Player of the Week this season for his impressive Week 5 performance.
Micah Parsons Player of the Week
Parsons received the award for helping the Cowboys dismantle the Los Angeles Rams during Week 5. The 2021 Defensive Rookie of the Year was a force against the Rams, picking up 2.0 sacks, 5 tackles and 3 QB hits. He also forced a fumble in Dallas' 22-10 win over Los Angeles.
The award was Parson's second weekly honor of his career, as he also won the same award during Week 8 in 2021. The second-year pro is off to a fast start this season with 6 sacks, which is tied with Matthew Judon of the New England Patriots for most in the NFL.
With Dak Prescott going down in Week 1, the Cowboys have had to rely on their defense even more to win games over the past month. Parsons and co. haven't disappointed, helping Dallas go 4-0 in Prescott's absence.
The 23-year-old linebacker will look to have another big game in primetime as the Cowboys battle the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday Night Football in Week 6. Dallas is listed as a 6-point road underdog against Philadelphia on FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds, but if Parsons has another huge performance then the undefeated Eagles might not stay unbeaten for long.
