Aside from the brilliant on-field product new owner Steve Cohen has brought to Queens, he's also paying close attention to the history of the New York Mets franchise. That's evident by the team's decision to unveil a class of 2023 Hall of Famers.
During the Wilpon era, New York only held Hall of Fame ceremonies for a handful of former players and other important members of the organization. It appears Cohen is ready to re-embrace the history of the franchise.
On Wednesday, the Mets revealed the names of the team's four newest Hall of Famers.

The list includes former players Howard Johnson and Al Leiter as well as broadcasters Gary Cohen and Howie Rose. As mentioned by team insider Anthony DiComo, the four new additions bring New York's franchise Hall of Fame number to 34 total members.
Leiter is one of the most decorated pitchers in franchise history, ranking top 10 in wins, innings and strikeouts. He's joined by Johnson, an elite power/speed threat who enjoyed five straight seasons with at least 20 home runs and 20 steals from 1987-1991.
Meanwhile, Cohen and Rose are accomplished members of the Mets' broadcast booth. Cohen is still a regular on the SNY broadcast while Rose has moved into the radio booth.
