When Phillip Lindsay got hurt in Week 1, Melvin Gordon stepped in and stepped up into the Denver Broncos starting role. And in that time he was serviceable. He did have a great outing against the New York Jets in his most recent game.

Melvin Gordon Injury Update

As we head into Week 6, the roles have reversed. Lindsay is set to return from his injury, while Gordon is now dealing with both a DUI arrest earlier in the week, and now apparently has come down with strep throat. Gordon has officially been ruled out in Week 6.

Phillip Lindsey Fantasy Outlook

With Gordon on the shelf in Week 6, Lindsey clearly becomes the player with the most to gain. While Lindsey hasn't had the chance to show off his talents in 2020, he certainly has as the Broncos' lead back in the past. While fantasy managers may be wary of starting him coming off an injury, he does have a solid matchup.

He will be going up against a New England Patriots defense that is ranked as the No. 18 rush defense and the No. 21 overall defense, according to Football Outsiders DVOA metric.
