The Atlanta Falcons decided to move in a different direction at quarterback this past week by trading long time starter Matt Ryan to the Indianapolis Colts. The 14-year pro took the time to pen an emotional goodbye on Twitter to the organization that fulfilled his dream of playing in the NFL.

Ryan's message was simple in the fact that he expressed his gratitude and gratefulness for all that went down in his time spent as a Falcon. He shouted out all his teammates for shaping him into a better person and the staff behind the scenes for making every practice and offseason run smoothly.

Of course, he also mentioned the impact of the fans, both on Sundays and in day-to-day interactions.

"I have spent more than a decade playing for you, the fans of Atlanta. You have made all of this worth it, and all of this means something more than what could ever be reflected in a statistic."

Ryan may be taking the next step in his career, but he made sure to point out that his role in Atlanta's community will still exist. He plans to keep his work to combat systemic barriers that Black youth face going through ATL: Advance the Lives, which the four-time Pro Bowler launched back in 2020.

Ryan led the Falcons to a Super Bowl appearance during the 2016 season and leaves the franchise with a record of 120-102. He has thrown for 59,735 yards and 367 touchdowns across a total of 222 games. His health since being drafted in 2008 has acted as a model of consistency for other QBs.

The Falcons have odds set at +18000 to win Super Bowl 57, while the Colts have odds set at +2400, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
