Green Bay Packers kicker Mason Crosby had a rollercoaster of an afternoon on Sunday. He connected on four field goals, including the game-winner, but the veteran also missed three attempts and an extra point try.
Packers head coach Matt LaFleur weighed in on his kicker's struggles against the Cincinnati Bengals.
LaFleur didn't sound too concerned about Crosby's misses. In fact, he seemed to protect the kicker from taking all of the blame, instead saying there were several parts of the "operation" that needed work.
"I think there's just some things that we absolutely need to clean up just from an operation standpoint ... You can't put all of that on Mason. I thought there's some areas that we have to make sure we get corrected, and we will."- Matt LaFleur
Green Bay's head coach took a very diplomatic approach by not calling out the veteran and taking some of the heat off of him. Knowing how hot and cold kickers can be, it was likely the best way to address the misses.
Crosby had also been stellar up until Sunday, going a perfect 11-11 on extra points and 6-6 on field goals over the first four weeks. He didn't miss a single FG attempt during the 2020 campaign as well, so one hiccup isn't anything to be concerned about just yet.
Crosby will look to get back on track against the Chicago Bears in Week 6.
