June may be a quiet part of the NFL offseason, but the video game world helps pick up some of the slack left by the real football world.

That's certainly the case on Thursday, as EA Sports has revealed the cover for Madden 22 — this year featuring two cover athletes.

Who is the Madden 22 Cover Athlete?

The Madden 22 cover athletes are Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady and Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Prior to the cover reveal, EA Sports teased the duo by releasing a trailer featuring a pair of "goats."

Patrick Mahomes Madden Cover

This will be Patrick Mahomes' second appearance on the Madden cover. He completely avoided the infamous "Madden Curse" in his last appearance, leading the Kansas City Chiefs to a Super Bowl win and earning Super Bowl MVP honors after gracing the cover of Madden 20.

Tom Brady Madden Cover

This will also be Tom Brady's second Madden cover appearance. He first graced the cover of Madden 18, when he also avoided the Madden curse. His New England Patriots did lose in the Super Bowl (to the Philadelphia Eagles), but Brady's 4,577 yards, 32 touchdowns and 8 interceptions made that one of the better seasons of his career.
