The Detroit Lions head into an important offseason armed with plenty of draft capital to aid in their rebuild. It's clear the 3-13-1 Lions need talent on both sides of the ball if they're to compete anytime soon, and the No. 2 overall pick puts them in prime position to nab a potential superstar.

Detroit GM Brad Holmes hasn't ruled out trading down in the 2022 NFL Draft, though.

Lions Draft Rumors

Holmes, who's currently at the Senior Bowl evaluating prospects, told NFL Network's Tom Pelissero that he's "always open for whatever." That's nowhere near a stance of the No. 2 pick being completely off the table, which makes a potential trade a possibility at the very least.

“I’m never scared to move around, so we’re definitely open for business, always.”

This is the smart approach for Holmes to take. Not ruling any scenario out allows the team to go in several directions and give themselves flexibility leading up to the draft.

The Lions could use a difference-making edge rusher at No. 2, but they also have several other holes to fill on this roster, so trading back and nabbing several other selections in the process makes a ton of sense for a rebuilding regime.

Holmes has already shown poise in his tenure when it comes to the draft, which means Detroit is in good hands heading into April.
