This past weekend the Detroit Lions lost practice squad QB Tim Boyle when he was signed by the Bears. However, it did not take the Lions long to fill his spot.
Joshua Dobbs Lions
The Lions have signed Joshua Dobbs to their practice squad. Dobbs, who was a star at Tennessee in college, and drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers, had been with the Cleveland Browns this season. Dobbs was released by Cleveland last week when it needed to make room for quarterback Deshaun Watson to be added to the active roster.
It seems Dobbs did have interest from the Broncos as well for the same position, but he ends up in Detroit.
Dobbs has appeared in six total NFL games in his career, with zero starts, all with Pittsburgh. In those six games though, he only has 17 pass attempts with 10 completions for 45 yards combined.
Dobbs has never really gotten a chance to make an impact on the field, but he has always found a home somewhere as a backup or practice squad QB.
The Lions go up against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 14, and are a 1.5-point home favorite, according to FanDuel Sportsbook's latest NFL odds.
