Coming into the 2022 NFL Draft, Georgia's Nakobe Dean was viewed as a first-round lock. At times throughout the pre-draft process, he was even seen as a potential top-15 selection. But night one came and went without Dean hearing his name called.

Still, whoever picks this kid is getting an absolute stud. Dean was a leader on a flat-out loaded Georgia defense that produced five first-round picks last night. Let's break down the most likely landing spots for the best player available heading into Day 2 of the 2022 NFL Draft.

Nakobe Dean NFL Draft Round 2

3. New York Giants (No. 36)

New York Giants GM Joe Schoen hit a home run in his first year running the show for Big Blue. He came away with two absolute studs in the trenches on both sides of the ball, landing Kayvon Thibodeaux and Evan Neal. Nakobe Dean fits with the hard-nosed ethos Schoen seems to be building here. He'd be a leader and an instant-impact starter on a defense that needs it.

2. Houston Texans (No. 37)

Houston Texans' GM Nick Caserio is a Bill Belichick guy, and Dean is a very Belichkian prospect. A fast, versatile winner who produced at the highest level – if Dean had gone to Alabama, Belichick might've traded up to No. 1 to get him. But Houston has holes at, well, pretty much every position and should be utilizing the best-player-available strategy. It's hard to see anyone being better than Dean at No. 37.

1. Detroit Lions (No. 46)

This would require a pretty steep fall, but this feels like a perfect marriage. Dan Campbell wants Football Guys. That's Nakobe Dean. The 21-year-old would be a Day 1 leader and an immediate upgrade over Detroit's current LB corps. If he's on the board at No. 46, expect Dean to be biting knee caps off in Detroit for the next decade.
