Leonard Fournette Injury Update

UPDATE — 3:03 p.m. EST: The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have officially listed Leonard Fournette (ankle) as inactive for Sunday's game against the Green Bay Packers. Fantasy managers can confidently fire up Ronald Jones in their starting lineups.

Tampa Bay Buccaneer's running back Leonard Fournette is expected to be active and play against the Green Bay Packers in Week 6, but he will not be 100 percent healthy. He has been a limited participant in practice all week as he battles an ankle injury.

The fact that Fournette will not be able to handle his usual workload is good news for fantasy managers who have been counting on Ronald Jones. Jones has become the clear-cut starter for the team and should be used a decent amount in a pivotal matchup on Sunday.

Ronald Jones Fantasy Outlook

Fournette was active last week as well, but only played for one snap (a kneel-down) and was clearly only available in an emergency. This allowed Jones to have a big game as he rushed for 106 yards on 17 carries and added 19 receiving yards on 3 receptions. It was Jones' second straight game with over 100 rushing yards.

Jones draws a tough matchup in Week 6 as the Packers have only given up 105.8 rushing yards per game this season (No. 8 in the NFL), but they have also allowed 5 rushing touchdowns in just four games. Jones hasn't seen the end zone since Week 2, but should have a good opportunity to score this week.

No one quite knows what to expect when Fournette is able to return healthy, but this is Jones backfield at least until that happens. Jones is averaging a career-high 4.9 yards per attempt and should continue being productive as a true dual-threat running back.

Jones checks in as the No. 25 running back in our Week 6 fantasy football rankings, but could see more action than expected and easily finish as a RB2 this week.
