With the news coming out that the Week 5 matchup between the Denver Broncos and New England Patriots is now postponed, many fantasy managers may be heading to the waiver wire in search of replacement players.
Look no further as Los Angeles Chargers Justin Jackson is available in over 50% of Yahoo leagues and is a solid replacement this week as the Los Angeles Chargers take on the New Orleans Saints on Monday Night Football.
Justin Jackson Fantasy Outlook
Jackson is becoming a well-known name across fantasy platforms due the the hamstring injury suffered by the Charger's starting running back Austin Ekeler. With Ekeler set to miss multiple weeks, Jackson's role in the offense significantly increases.
Competing for carries with rookie Joshua Kelley, Jackson's biggest skills come in the passing game. Jackson is touted for his ability to run routes out of the backfield, which will come in handy for quarterback Justin Herbert, who targeted Ekeler over four times per game so far this season.
While Kelley may receive the bulk of the work in short yardage and red zone opportunities, he has also fumbled twice this year and the Chargers will likely look to the surehanded Jackson quite often. Expect him to carve out a nice role in this offense as an all-around running back until Ekeler returns.
Jackson checks in as the No. 32 running back in our Week 5 fantasy football rankings and is an intriguing option in your RB2 or FLEX spot this week due to the number of injuries and postponements across the NFL. He has one of the highest ceilings of any players still available in most leagues.
