Six weeks into the NFL season, Julio Jones is the WR8 in standard scoring leagues. While the Atlanta Falcons have struggled mightily as a team, Jones is off to a solid start with 34 catches (on 53 targets) for 467 yards and four touchdowns.
Jones and the Falcons also have a matchup with the reeling Los Angeles Rams on tap in Week 7, as Los Angeles is coming off three straight losses.
While Jones was limited in practice this week with a hip injury, he is fully expected to play on Sunday as the Falcons host the Rams. He is coming off an eight-catch, 108-yard game against the Arizona Cardinals, after two straight slow weeks against the Tennessee Titans and Houston Texans, respectively.
Jones is off to his best scoring start in quite some time, with four TDs through six games this season after he didn't score a single TD in 2018 until Week 9 of last season. He is also third in the NFL with 671 air yards through six games, but could run into a tough matchup against the Rams' defense that's allowing the 11th-fewest fantasy points to wide receivers.
A big factor in Jones' Week 7 matchup will be the availability of Jalen Ramsey, who the Rams acquired via trade earlier this week. Ramsey has been dealing with a back injury, and will likely be on a snap count if he plays. The Rams are very thin at cornerback behind Ramsey, having placed Aqib Talib on injured reserve while also trading away Marcus Peters to the Baltimore Ravens earlier this week.
Due to the uncertainty surrounding Ramsey, along with the depletions to the Rams' secondary, Jones makes for a great play at home in a matchup that features Week 7's highest projected scoring total (54.5 points), according to FanDuel Sportsbook. He is currently the second ranked WR2 in our Week 7 PPR Rankings.
