Julian Edelman Fantasy Outlook Strong in Week 17 Despite Injury Update

Latest reports have Julian Edelman listed as questionable for the New England Patriots' Week 17 game against the Miami Dolphins. With the Patriots playing to secure a first-round bye, they will look to have Edelman and other key players active.

Edelman is dealing with knee and shoulder injuries and has been limited in practice this week. He's been banged up at times this season, but he will still play a key role in the Patriots offense if he's on the field.

Julian Edelman Fantasy Outlook

Tom Brady's favorite target is on pace for the best fantasy season of his long career. He's caught 97 passes on 146 targets for 1,091 yards through 15 games. While he's slowed down in his last two games (7 catches for 81 yards over the last two weeks), Edelman remains the No. 1 receiving option for the Patriots.

Edelman should continue this success against the Dolphins, who rank as the worst defense in NFL by nearly every metric. The Dolphins are last in both yards allowed per game and Football Outsiders' DVOA metrics.

Edelman had 4 catches for 51 yards in his first meeting against the Dolphins, but fantasy owners should expect more as long as he plays the whole game. The Patriots could theoretically rest Edelman in the second half of a blowout, but he should still get plenty of opportunities regardless.
