The New York Jets came into the 2022 NFL Draft armed with two top-10 picks and plenty of other draft capital behind that. They also had three pressing positions of need (cornerback, wide receiver and EDGE), and Gang Green addressed all three in the first round after using some of that aforementioned draft capital to trade back into the end of Round 1.

After drafting Ahmad Gardner (CB) at No. 4, Garrett Wilson (WR) at No. 10 and then Jermaine Johnson II (EDGE) at No. 26, the Jets were universally praised and considered by many to be the leaders in the clubhouse for the draft after Day 1.

Jets Draft Grades

While just their Round 1 picks could have probably carried the Jets to a good overall draft grade, ESPN's Mel Kiper was impressed with their selections after as well. In his post-draft article, Kiper gave the Jets the grade of A, tying them with the Baltimore Ravens for the best grade in the NFL.

For a team that needed to add talent and depth, at plenty of different positions, the Jets pulled off the ultimate goal of both drafting for value and need at the same time.

Things have been mostly bleak for the Jets over the last decade or so, but this front office and coaching staff seem to be on the same page and pulling all the right levers. Now, it's just about continuing to build and executing on the field come September.

The Jets still have +15000 odds to win the Super Bowl next season, tied for third-worst in the NFL, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
