That's why a fan base anxious for better results held their breath as he exited the team's preseason game on Friday with a concerning knee injury.

Many people speculated the worst, expecting to see notifications on Saturday morning that Wilson had torn his ACL and was out for the year. The good news is that none of that happened. Instead, a MRI confirmed that the 23-year-old's ligaments are intact and that he suffered a bone bruise.

Zach Wilson Injury Update

Wilson is not completely out of the woods yet as he will undergo more tests to determine if he has a meniscus injury or not. No matter what, his recovery timeline is going to be a matter of weeks/months and not a year. The idea of him returning to the field in time for Week 1 should not be ruled out, either.

While Wilson's injury was obviously the biggest news of the night, his poor outing should not be overlooked. The 2021 first-round pick completed three of his five pass attempts for 23 yards and zero touchdowns (1 interception). He looked rattled and unprepared facing a NFL defense again.
