Jalen Redmond Scouting Report
Playing 12 games for the first time in his collegiate career, Jalen Redmond made his presence felt on Oklahoma's defensive line this past season. He racked up 23 tackles (10.0 for a loss), four sacks and a career-high four broken-up passes.
Redmond's quickness and high motor help him excel as a pass rusher when needed. He's also great with his hands and finishes his tackles, making him an asset in the run game as well. That's not even mentioning how he's physically gifted, earning rave reviews at the combine.
Having said that, Redmond is sometimes too quick for his own good, occasionally missing his assignment on run plays. He lacks versatility when it comes to his moves, meaning opposing offensive lines know how to ice him out once they've figured out his strategy.
Jalen Redmond NFL Draft Prediction
Although CBS projects Jalen Redmond to be a third-round selection, it's more likely that he'll fall to Day 3. He's a solid defender, but his lack of defensive movies and occasionally poor vision limit his ceiling.
The Chicago Bears would be a good fit for the Oklahoma product. The Bears need help improving the defensive line after recording the fewest sacks while allowing the second-most rushing yards last season. With his ability to clog holes and occasionally join the pass rush, Redmond would help get Chicago trend in the right direction.
With six Day 3 draft picks, the Bears have more than enough capital to take a swing on Redmond.
Prediction: Chicago Bears (Round 5, 136th overall)
