When Cleveland Indians left fielder Eddie Rosario initially left Monday night's loss to the Tampa Bay Rays in the 2nd inning, fans feared the worst. It wasn't helped by manager Terry Francona's near declaration that his starting left fielder would end up on the injured list.
Well, that's exactly what happened on Wednesday. Cleveland announced that Rosario is headed to the 10-day injured list with a right abdominal strain. In a corresponding move, Daniel Johnson had been recalled from Triple-A Columbus.
Eddie Rosario Injury Update
The injury is one that first occurred earlier last week. Rosario did play through the pain over the weekend, but clearly re-aggravated his abdominal strain on Monday.
On the year, Rosario has been one of the few mainstays in Cleveland's lineup, a lineup that's been barraged by injuries. He's played in 77 games while slugging .254/.296/.389 with 7 home runs and 46 RBIs.
Cleveland sits behind the first-place Chicago White Sox by 6.5 games in the AL Central standings and owns just +5500 odds to win the World Series, according to the latest MLB odds on FanDuel Sportsbook.
