After successfully opening retail locations in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Iowa and Indiana, FanDuel Sportsbook has announced they are officially continuing the expansion of their brick and mortar sports betting venues in Detroit, Michigan.
Through a partnership with Motor City Casino, FanDuel's newest sportsbook is set to open on Thursday, March 12 at 10 a.m. local time.
Thursday marks the first day people can place sports wagers at MotorCity Casino. The two-story FanDuel Sportsbook at MotorCity Casino will feature six betting windows, 67 HD televisions, a sports ticker, a VIP area, and 54 self-service IGT PlaySports betting kiosks.
To commemorate the opening, there will be a special ribbon-cutting ceremony and ceremonial first bet, which will be made by Hall of Fame Detroit Lions running back Barry Sanders. Michigan Lieutenant Governor Garlin Gilchrist, Michigan Representative Michael Webber, and Michigan Representative Matt Hall will also be in attendance at the event.
However, the celebrations will not end there. As the festivities continue into the night, Detroit hockey legends Darren McCarty and Joey Kocur will host a Red Wings Watch Party at 7 p.m. at the FanDuel Sportsbook at MotorCity Casino.
The FanDuel Sportsbook at MotorCity Casino is located at 2901 Grand River Ave, Detroit, MI 48201
It's certainly a full day of events to look forward to as FanDuel brings their in-person sports betting experience to the city and people of Detroit!
As more and more states continue towards full legalization of sports betting, FanDuel has continued to build upon their previous success and bring their well-known operations to millions of additional people throughout the country. This is just the next step in that evolution.
