With the sports world on hold this spring, fans have been clamoring for things to fill the void. All the major golf tournaments have been postponed or cancelled, but it's still Masters week, and FanDuel is doing its part to fill the void with a PGA Sim Sports Fantasy Golf Tournament.
Each of the world's top 50 golfers will be teeing it up in the contest, which uses custom numberFire algorithms for the simulation. It's not only current PGA Tour players that will be involved, either, as some legends of the game and a few fictional greats join the fold as well!
On top of all-time greats like Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer, we will get to see fictional stars like Happy Gilmore and Ty Webb (no word on shooter McGavin's availability yet).
Yes, you read that right – users will be able to make a DFS lineup with Tiger Woods, the Golden Bear and a guy who putts with a hockey stick. With the help of Neil Henderson’s team, FanDuel created custom avatars for over 103 golfers from the past, present and big screen.
The contest will lock at 12 p.m. on Sunday (4/12) and Round 1 will happen Thursday (4/16) from 12PM-1PM, Round 2 on Friday (4/17) from 12PM-1PM, and so on.
So while we might not be getting real golf this week as originally planned, being able to see the ultimate dream matchup of Tiger Woods versus Jack Nicklaus sure sounds like the next best thing! It's also hard not to love getting to build a fantasy golf lineup around Happy Gilmore.
You can sign up to participate in the free-to-play tournament, which features $10k in prizes, here.
