The 2020 NFL season was a year to forget for the Atlanta Falcons. But that down campaign landed them the No. 4 pick, which they used to reinvest in the weapons around Matt Ryan and select potential All-Pro talent Kyle Pitts.

This is now one of the NFL's top offenses, and they could use that firepower to take advantage of a weaker 2021 schedule.

According to ESPN's Mike Clay, the Falcons own the second-easiest schedule in the NFL next season. It should be noted that the order of games has not been set, but based on the current construction of the league's yearly schedule, the opponents Atlanta will face are already known.

Falcons Schedule 2021

Clay used known opponents and the current construction of league rosters to come up with his strength of schedule projection. This projection is based on a random order of games but we do that Atlanta will square off against teams from the NFC South, AFC East and NFC East.

While trade rumors once surrounded Ryan, the Falcons are clearly not interested in a rebuild. Their selection of Pitts confirms as much. The 2016 NFL MVP could be in for a bounce-back year with Pitts, Julio Jones, Calvin Ridley and Hayden Hurst (barring a trade) around him.

New GM Terry Fontenot also addressed the offensive line with third-round pick Jalen Mayfield another effort to help maximize the last years of Ryan's prime.

Improving on defense was Atlanta's biggest need this offseason as the Falcons allowed the fourth-most yards per game (398.4) last season. Fontenot used five of his eight total draft picks to add defensive talent, which could have an immediate impact on this unit.

Atlanta improving on defense will likely be key to breaking their three-year playoff drought in 2021. If the revamped defense can take the pressure off of this prolific offense, watch out for the Falcons next year.
