An uninspiring 1-7 start to the 2021 NFL season forced the Miami Dolphins to miss the postseason for the 12th time in 13 years. Even after this offseason's improvements, the 2022 campaign could be just as difficult, with ESPN's Mike Davis listing Miami as having the 12th-hardest schedule.

The good news for the Dolphins is that they also have some very beatable opponents on deck. If they can take advantage of their easiest matchups, a return to the playoffs may not be out of the question.

Here's a look at the three easiest games on the Dolphins' schedule in 2022.

Miami Dolphins Schedule 2022

1. Week 5: @ New York Jets

The New York Jets have been one of the worst NFL teams over the last decade or so and that trend is expected to continue judging by where they rank (No. 30) in the latest Super Bowl odds. The Jets owned a bottom-5 offense last season and even though they've brought in several playmakers this offseason, Zach Wilson has a lot to prove before he's taken seriously as a starting quarterback. He could also be in a lot of trouble against a Miami defense that allowed only 15.6 PPG in its final nine games. If that's the defense that shows up in Week 5, the Dolphins can pencil in a win right now.

2. Week 8: @ Detroit Lions

The Detroit Lions looked halfway decent to close out the 2021 season and have made many improvements this offseason. However, that doesn't change the fact that they were a three-win franchise last year. The Lions' secondary gave up 244.7 passing yards per game (No. 23) last year, making them a tantalizing matchup for speedsters Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. Detroit will also be coming off a difficult matchup against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 7, which means the Lions' morale could be nice and low for the Dolphins to take advantage of.

3. Week 12: vs. Houston Texans

The Houston Texans are expected to be the worst NFL team in 2022 as FanDuel Sportsbook has set their projected win total to just 3.5. Victories are never guaranteed in sports, but this matchup is as close as it gets for the Dolphins. Simply put, the Texans don't have many (if any) game-changers that they can count on every night. They also had the third-worst offense in the league last season, which should be easily outclassed by Miami's defense. The Dolphins will likely be the heavy favorites at home in this matchup and it would be an absolute shock if they don't leave with the victory.
