Philadelphia Eagles fans across the country have been clamoring for the return of the throwback Kelly Green uniforms. Well, the time has finally come. Team owner Jeffrey Lurie announced on Tuesday that the classic uniforms will be coming back as an alternate combination in 2023.

The Eagles originally changed from the bright shade to the darker one they don on Sundays now in 1996. Coincidentally, that was shortly after Lurie bought the team. Franchise legends like Randall Cunningham and Reggie White played their best games in these uniforms back in the '80s and '90s.

Philadelphia's front office has reportedly been working on this for years, but the plan was always held up by the NFL's one-helmet rule. The abandonment of that principle in June of 2021 has now opened the door for teams to get creative. That means more throwback uniforms could be on the way soon.

Lurie said the team is working with Nike to make sure the uniforms look exactly like they did prior to the turn of the century. He also mentioned that the Eagles will be matching their black uniforms with a new black helmet in 2022. It's an addition that many of the players in the locker room suggested.

For now, Philadelphia heads into the fall with odds set at +4000 to win Super Bowl 57, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
