The Los Angeles Angels are off to a terrific start to the 2021 MLB season.

They're first in the AL West at 6-3, Mike Trout has been his usual dominant self and Shohei Ohtani has emerged as a legitimate AL MVP candidate.

They got hit with a dose of bad news on Sunday, however.

Dexter Fowler Injury News

Dexter Fowler has been diagnosed with a torn ACL, which will likely end his season.

Fowler landed on the 10-day IL on Saturday with what was announced as a sprained right knee. It turns out the real issue was much more serious than first believed, and that probably means no more Fowler in 2021.

Of course, that also opens the door for some potential optimism. With Fowler out, Angels fans will be hoping the team calls up prospect Jo Adell.

Adell struggled at the major league level in 2020, but the previous year he had exploded for a .308/.390/.533 triple-slash with 8 home runs and 6 steals across 20 games at the Double-A level.

The Angels' decision to replace Fowler has yet to be announced, but they'll need someone to pick up the slack with the switch-hitting outfielder dealing with such a serious injury.

FanDuel Sportsbook has the Angels ranked 10th in the MLB with +2500 odds to win the World Series.
