Finding running back depth in the later rounds of fantasy football drafts can be what separates the contenders from the pretenders. Buffalo Bill Devin Singletary could be an intriguing option for the 2021 season, but he also comes with plenty of risk.

Devin Singletary Fantasy Outlook

Singletary acted as the more productive part of an RB committee with Zack Moss last season. He totaled 956 yards from scrimmage on 194 touches while playing in 57% of the offensive snaps. Meanwhile, Moss was on the field for 37% of the offensive snaps and racked up 576 yards from scrimmage on 126 touches.

In fantasy football, Moss was able to cover the gap in yardage by scoring 5 touchdowns compared to Singletary's total of 2. Overall, Singletary hasn't finished higher than RB31 in PPR leagues in either of his two NFL seasons. There isn't much hope to see him explode into RB2 territory in 2021, either.

The Bills know that Singletary can be elusive in the open field and regularly use him the receiving game (38 receptions in 2020). However, his lack of goal-line work last season is a concern moving forward. Singletary saw an average of less than 2 red zone touches per game and totaled just 28 on the year.

He's likely to continue losing those carries to both Moss and even quarterback Josh Allen, who handled 9 carries inside the 5-yard line compared to 5 for Singletary.

Devin Singletary ADP

FantasyPros' average draft position data shows that Singletary is being drafted No. 115 overall and No. 41 amongst RBs in PPR leagues. He is nothing more than a low-end RB3, and he doesn't have a clear path to increase that value unless Moss goes down.

Singletary checks in one spot below Moss at RB30 in The Duel's 2021 fantasy football rankings.
