The Houston Texans' saga with disgruntled star quarterback Deshaun Watson is very much ongoing, with the two sides seeming as distant as possible since the offseason began. With the possibility of reconciling looking less likely by the day, Houston's best move at this point is to maximize a potential trade package for Watson before his value dips.
It's been theorized what Watson could command in a trade, but one report has revealed the Texans' likely asking price.
Deshaun Watson Trade Rumor
Giving up three first-round picks is no joke for any franchise, and it'd be quite the haul for the Texans.
Potential suitors risk mortgaging their future in case their Watson experiment doesn't work out. Not having the chance to reload the roster with first-round talent for three years could also cause some to balk at the price, even given the quarterback's immense talent.
However, for teams with ample draft capital and cap space, Watson is worth the cost. And there are probably only about five QBs in the league that Watson wouldn't immediately be an upgrade over.
The New York Jets have their first rounder (No. 2) and the Seattle Seahawks' first-round picks for the next two years to throw on the table. The Miami Dolphins have the Texans' first-rounder this year (No. 3) and their own first-round pick (No. 18) to build a deal around, plus 2020's No. 5 overall pick Tua Tagovailoa.
Houston's drama with Watson could reach an end in the near future with the draft approaching.
