Reports have come out that Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson has now officially requested to be traded from the team. There is likely a number of other NFL franchises that would look to trade for him if that ends up being the case, but one team in particular is making a big jump in the odds.
Deshaun Watson Dolphins Trade Odds
When the odds were first set on where Watson will play next season, the Miami Dolphins were third on the list with odds set at +550. However, they have now jumped to +250 and only trail the Texans at +150, according to odds at FanDuel Sportsbook (the bet is only available for users in Colorado so far).
The Dolphins drafted Tua Tagovailoa No. 5 overall in the 2020 NFL draft, but he ended up splitting reps with veteran quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick this season. It seems like the team isn't fully convinced that Tagovailoa is the definite solution at the quarterback position
Another reason Miami may trade for Watson is its roster construction. It is a team ready to compete and make the playoffs right now. Plus, that chance would only be boosted by acquiring a quarterback that has already made 3 Pro Bowls and led the league in passing yards last season.
Rounding out the top four in the odds are the New York Jets (+350) and the Denver Broncos (+850). Don't be surprised if the Dolphins make a push to have Watson playing alongside DeVante Parker and Mike Gesicki next NFL season.
