Arizona Cardinals' star wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins missed practice on Wednesday due to a hip injury he suffered last week during the team's matchup against the San Francisco 49ers. It is definitely not the news Cardinals fans wanted to hear heading into a Week 17 must-win game.
It would be surprising to see Hopkins miss going up against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, but anything could happen. No matter what, it certainly clouds his fantasy value this week.
DeAndre Hopkins Fantasy Outlook
Hopkins is in the midst of yet another great season as he currently ranks third in the NFL with 1,372 receiving yards and is second with 111 receptions. He has also racked up over 100 yards in a game seven times this season and remains quarterback Kyler Murray's No. 1 target.
If Hopkins is able to suit up, he draws a tough matchup as the Rams have been one of the best defensive teams in the NFL this season. They have given up the least amount of fantasy points to opposing wide receivers as well as just 7 touchdowns to the position (three less than any other team in the NFL). However, Hopkins has proven that he can thrive in even the toughest matchups.
This is a situation worth monitoring as the week goes on. If Hopkins is able to log any type of practice time, it would be a step in the right direction for him to be active on Sunday. Just make sure to have a backup option ready to go in case he ends up being ruled out.
