Dawand Jones Scouting Report

Any scouting report of Jones starts and ends with his size. At 6-foot-8 and 374 pounds, he's been described as "massive" by pretty much every draft expert in the country.

Jones put that size to good use at Ohio State, where he emerged as one of the best offensive linemen in the nation. A three-star recruit coming out of high school, he developed into an All-American by his senior year and served as an immovable force on the Buckeyes' O-line, doing a tremendous job protecting CJ Stroud.

Jones' size is staggering and is something that can't be coached, which makes him a rare prospect in this year's draft class. He's also helped by his elite length and was a basketball star in high school, so he's surprisingly quick on his feet.

That said, Jones isn't a perfect prospect. He's not the most athletic due to his size and his weight could be an issue if he gets much bigger, so it will be important for him to maintain a consistent playing weight. Still, any team would love to have a player of his proportions at right tackle.

Jones is an intriguing prospect with a wide range of outcomes. Some experts think he has the upside of a first-round pick, while others see him falling farther in the draft. The general consensus appears to be that he'll end up going in the second round, although it's not obvious to whom.

The Colts seem like a good fit, as they desperately need to upgrade their offensive line. Matt Ryan was sacked a whopping 38 times last year in just 12 games, so Indy needs to do a better job of protecting the quarterback and opening up running lanes for Jonathan Taylor.

That's where Jones fits in. He could be an immediate starter on the Colts' O-line and make life easier for their offense. Indy would have to grab him early in the second round if he's still available, as he'll likely get scooped up if they don't grab him at No. 35.
