The Carolina Panthers will kick off their 2019 NFL season at home in Week 1 against the reigning NFC champion Los Angeles Rams. Despite the tough opener, bettors are smashing the over on the Panthers' win total for the upcoming season on FanDuel Sportsbook at an alarming rate.

The Panthers have an over/under of 7.5 wins, according to FanDuel Sportsbook, with the over listed at -200 and the under at +170, and 97.6 percent of the money is being bet on the over as of late in the day on Sept. 3. Carolina is coming off a 7-9 season in 2018, which was marred by a Cam Newton shoulder injury that cost the quarterback the final two games of the season.

The Panthers play in one of the league's most competitive divisions, but there is reason for optimism in 2019. While they lost some key players, including defensive veterans Thomas Davis and Julius Peppers, they added a stud in defensive tackle Gerald McCoy while also signing DE Bruce Irvin and C Matt Paradis to bolster some key spots in their lineup.

But above all else, as long as Newton can bounce back, the Panthers have the potential to be one of the league's most explosive offenses in 2019. With a trio of playmakers in Christian McCaffrey, D.J. Moore and Curtis Samuel, Cam has the assets to the thrive in 2019.

The one thing that could sink the Panthers' season, and the team's chance at topping this over/under win total, is Newton's health. While the QB is ready to roll for Week 1, Cam's ability to stay intact for the whole season will be crucial to Carolina's success in 2019.
