Mike McCarthy Taps Packers Pipeline Again for Latest Coaching Hire

As Mike McCarthy prepares to head into his second season as the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys, he's making some changes, including bringing in Dan Quinn to be the defensive coordinator.

His latest move has been to hire another coach from his tree — former New York Giants head coach Ben McAdoo — to a consultant role.
McAdoo was once the Packers QB coach under McCarthy in Green Bay. It's part of what ultimately landed him his head coaching gig in New York.
The #Cowboys have hired former #Giants head coach Ben McAdoo as a consultant, sources say. Once a #Packers QB coach under Mike McCarthy, now back with him in Dallas.

While McAdoo was the Jaguars' QB coach last season, the last time we really saw him on an NFL sideline he was being run out of New York for all the wrong reasons. However, this is how the NFL coaching fraternity works. Coaches get jobs and build out their staffs with people they know and trust. Their "own guys" if you will.
After a disappointing 2020, headlined by the injury to Dak Prescott, McCarthy is armed with everything he needs to win in 2021. If he doesn't, he might not be around next year to make any more changes.
