Christian Walker has been one of baseball's hottest hitters despite playing in a platoon role to start the season. However, now that fellow first baseman and platoon-mate Jake Lamb was placed on the injured list with a strained quad, the 28-year-old slugger's fantasy stock is quickly on the rise.

Through the first seven games of the season, Walker has been Arizona's best hitter with a .368 batting average and a 1.347 OPS with three homers and six RBI in 20 plate appearances.

There's a lot to like about Walker's potential going forward, especially now that he's likely to get more consistent playing time with Lamb on the IL.

Walker has proven to have some pop, jacking at least 18 homers in six straight Minor League seasons, making him a good option for fantasy owners in need of a bump in the HR and RBI categories.

Walker will now have the opportunity to prove to his manager that he deserves to play every day, even when Lamb returns from injury.

For now, fantasy baseball owners would be smart to pluck Walker off the waiver wire and see if he can take advantage of the extra at-bats in the short term. If he succeeds, his owners will have what could be one of 2019's top sleepers.

New customers will get 40/1 on any of the Final Four teams to win the tournament.
