The Arizona Cardinals' backfield may be a bit depleted this week as running back Chase Edmonds is not practicing due to an ankle/knee injury. Edmonds was able to play last week despite being limited in practice so we will have to see what his participation looks like for the rest of the week.

If Edmonds is unable to suit up, it boosts the fantasy outlook of starter Kenyan Drake. Drake would receive and larger workload than usual as the Cardinals take on the San Francisco 49ers in an NFC West matchup on Saturday.

Chase Edmonds Fantasy Outlook

Edmonds has been a reliable player for the Cardinals all season and has been splitting snaps with Drake as of late. He has played in over 50% of the offensive snaps in four of the last five games and outsnapped Drake in three of those games as well. It would make a huge difference if he was out this week.

Last week, Edmonds rushed for 47 yards on 11 carries and added 19 yards and a receiving touchdown on 3 catches. It was just the second time this season Edmonds saw double-digit carries. Drake rushed for just 26 yards on 10 carries and caught 2 passes for 14 yards.

Kenyan Drake Fantasy Outlook

If Edmonds does not play this week, Drakes' value only increases as the Cardinals' featured back. While he may not have had the greatest game last week, Drake has rushed for 9 touchdowns this season and has seen double-digit carries in every game. He remains the leader of this backfield.

San Francisco is not the easiest matchup as they are ranked within the top 10 in rushing yards allowed per game, but Drake did rush for 60 yards and a touchdown when these two teams met back in Week 1. He has definitive RB2 value heading into this week with added upside if Edmonds ends up being ruled out.
