The 2022 NFL Draft featured a total of 262 prospects being selected by teams across the league and a number of undrafted free agents signed deals afterwards as well. The entire process acted a jolt for NFL fans as anticipation for the season is starting to rise ahead of the schedule release on May 12.

Keep in mind fans already know the opponents their favorite team will play in 2022, just not specific dates or order. The Los Angeles Chargers will look to earn their first AFC West title since 2009 this upcoming season, but it's certainly not going to be easy given the competition in front of them.

Chargers Schedule 2022

Sports Illustrated's Zach Koons put together a strength of schedule metric based on the known opponents and their 2021 regular-season records. The results could've been better for the Chargers considering they rank with the fourth-hardest schedule in the AFC and 10th-hardest schedule overall.

Of course, playing in the AFC West means playing some of the toughest divisional games in the league. The Kansas City Chiefs posted a 50-15 record from 2018-2022, the Las Vegas Raiders added wide receiver Davante Adams and the Denver Broncos acquired Pro Bowl quarterback Russell Wilson.

The Chargers will also be tasked with taking on opponents from the AFC South and NFC West. five of those eight team posted winning records in 2021, including the Super Bowl champion Los Angeles Rams. Matchups with the Cleveland Browns and Miami Dolphins will act as big tests for LA, too.

Head coach Brandon Staley will once again lean on quarterback Justin Herbert to guide the team to the promised land. Oddsmakers are backing the confidence by giving the Chargers +1600 odds to win Super Bowl 57, according to FanDuel Sportsbook. Those chances rank tied for fifth in the NFL.
