After falling out of a playoff spot to end the 2020 season, the Arizona Cardinals are busy making upgrades to their roster. The team signed J.J. Watt before free agency began, then had a busy day on Wednesday, inking A.J. Green to a one-year deal and trading for Las Vegas Raiders center Rodney Hudson.
It's no surprise the Cardinals' odds to win Super Bowl LVI are on the rise.
Arizona entered the offseason with +4400 odds to win next year's Super Bowl, per FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL futures. However, those odds were up to +4100 by the time of the Watt signing, and now they sit at +4000 after their recent moves.
While the Cards have the 18th-best odds, there's potential for that number to improve once the dust settles on free agency.
Watt will form an almost unstoppable defensive front with Chandler Jones, Green adds another weapon to an already strong receiving corps, and Hudson is a three-time Pro Bowler who will instantly improve the protection around Kyler Murray.
It's clear that the Cardinals recognize their potential to compete, and their recent signings indicate a similar belief from the veterans they're bringing in. Arizona's moves are exactly what this budding contender needed to improve heading into the 2021 season.
