Cardinals Get Exciting J.J. Watt Injury Update Ahead of Wild Card Game

After a blazing 7-0 start, the Arizona Cardinals limped into the NFL Playoffs ahead of an NFC Wild Card Round matchup against the Los Angeles Rams. But, the playoffs means a fresh start and an exciting injury update around one of Arizona's biggest stars.
On Sunday evening, the Cardinals waived cornerback Breon Borders in order to make room for five-time All-Pro defensive end J.J. Watt.

J.J. Watt Injury Update
Watt hasn't played since Week 7 of the regular season after dealing with a nasty shoulder injury that included a torn labrum, torn rotator cuff and torn bicep. Coincidently, the Cardinals were 7-0 with Watt on the field this season and just 4-6 in his absence since Week 8.
The superstar pass-rusher racked up 1.0 sack through these first seven games in addition to 10 quarterback hits and six tackles for loss.
NFL insider Ian Rapoport explained that Watt's return for the Wild Card Round is still not fully confirmed, but there's a good chance he plays in some sort of limited role. Regardless, his sheer presence will make Rams head coach Sean McVay consider changing blocking schemes to slow down the five-time Pro Bowler.
Arizona enters this Wild Card matchup as 3.5-point road underdogs on FanDuel Sportsbook. The winner punches a ticket to face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFC Divisional Round next weekend.
