The Los Angeles Rams' backfield looks to be getting healthier as rookie running back Cam Akers is trending in the right direction and is likely to play against the Arizona Cardinals. He has been battling a high-ankle sprain that caused him to miss last week's game.

Cam Akers Fantasy Outlook

Having Akers back would obviously boost his fantasy value as well as improve the Rams' offense as a whole. In his last three games played, Akers has been the workhorse running back averaging 21.7 carries and 102.0 rushing yards per game. He is also averaging 4.7 yards per carry over that span.

It is unknown whether or not Akers would be on a snap count if he does suit up, but it is likely given he won't be 100% healthy quite yet. However, he should still see the bulk of the carries. This is a great matchup for Akers as the Cardinals' defense is giving up 126.5 rushing yards per game this season (10th most in the NFL).

Plus, with John Wolford starting for the injured Jared Goff, Sean McVay should be relying on Akers early and often in Week 17.

Malcolm Brown Fantasy Outlook

Having Akers active and playing would not benefit Malcolm Brown's fantasy outlook. Brown was set to become the starter once again in Akers' absence. It's noteworthy to point out that the last time Brown saw more than 11 carries in a game, he rushed for 79 yards and scored 2 touchdowns.

It is definitely possible that Brown still sees double-digit carries if Akers does suit up as the Rams will be without Goff. This means they may rely on their rushing attack even more than usual. Both Akers and Brown have FLEX value heading into a pivotal Week 17 matchup.
