The Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers have numerous players hitting free agency. That includes players ready for huge paydays in LB's Shaq Barrett and Lavonte David, along with WR Chris Godwin.
The Bucs won't be able to keep or sign all their top stars, and here are three players that will likely be playing elsewhere next season.
3. Leonard Fournette, RB
Fournette signed a one-year, $2 million base contract with the Buccaneers, and it's likely one and done for the former Jacksonville Jaguars top-5 pick. The Bucs have too many other quality players to sign, and they're not going to pay him more money than Ronald Jones, who enters the final year of a more team-friendly contract.
2. Chris Godwin, WR
Godwin had 81 receptions for 1,072 yards and 8 touchdowns including the playoffs in 2020. The soon to be 25-year-old will get a huge contract in free agency. His skills, age and production make him a likely target for other teams to overpay in an attempt to pry him away from Tampa Bay.
1. Antonio Brown, WR
Should the Bucs lose Godwin, Antonio Brown is a cheaper option. He joined the team for the second half of 2020 after signing a 1-year-deal for $1.6 million with incentives. Brown produced 52 receptions, 564 yards and 6 touchdowns, including the playoffs. Unfortunately, his best production is behind him at age 33 for the 2021 season. Add in off-field issues and behavior problems, and Brown becomes expendable with youngsters Scotty Miller and Tyler Johnson looking for more playing time alongside Mike Evans.
