The Tampa Bay Buccaneers' offseason was dominated by different headlines involving quarterback Tom Brady, but the health of wide receiver Chris Godwin drew a ton of attention as well. Fans will be glad to hear the Pro Bowler is expected to suit up against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 1 on Sunday.

Chris Godwin Injury Update

Godwin has been ramping up his workload throughout training camp with the hope of playing in Week 1 in the back of his mind the entire time. The 26-year-old was a full participant in practice on Friday and now looks poised to see his first live action since suffering a torn ACL back on December 19.

Insider Adam Schefter reports that Godwin could be on a snap count against the Cowboys, which wouldn't be too surprising given how cautious Tampa Bay has been with his recovery. That's where the team's WR depth comes in with Mike Evans, Julio Jones and Russell Gage all ready to go.

The Buccaneers are simply a better offense when Godwin is on the field. The Penn State product led the team in targets (127), receptions (98) and yards (1,103) last year despite playing in only 14 games. His average of 7.0 receptions per game was a career-high mark, too, and ranked third in the NFL.

Keep an eye on the Buccaneers' inactive list, which will be released 90 minutes prior to the 8:20 p.m. ET kickoff. All signs point to Godwin not being on it. Tampa Bay enters AT&T Stadium as 2.5-point road favorites with odds set at -142 on the moneyline, according to FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds.
