There's no doubt that the Cleveland Browns are going to have an unusual season at the quarterback position. The plan is still for Jacoby Brissett to man the backfield with Joshua Dobbs backing him up, but the Browns shook things up a bit on Wednesday. Cleveland used a waiver claim on Kellen Mond.

Mond was waived by the Minnesota Vikings during final cuts on Tuesday and the team hoped to bring him back as a practice squad option. However, Cleveland has stepped in the way and will be adding the second-year pro to the active roster. He'll now get to develop under a new coaching staff.
As a rookie, Mond failed to make a great impression on former head coach Mike Zimmer and that same sentiment seemed to follow him into this preseason. The 23-year-old posted a completion rate of 56.9% for 303 yards and 2 touchdowns (2 interceptions) in three games, but it wasn't enough.
Deshaun Watson is set to return in Week 13 of the regular season, so that could very well be Mond's window to prove to the Browns he is worth keeping around. As a third-round pick in 2021, he was praised throughout the draft process for his ability to deliver quick and accurate passes at any time.
For now, the Browns will roll with three quarterbacks on the roster in hopes of being able to stay in the playoff picture until Watson's suspension ends. Cleveland has odds set at +138 to secure a postseason berth and odds set at +3000 to win Super Bowl 57, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
