Browns Add Former First-Round QB to Practice Squad

The quarterbacks keep on rolling in for Cleveland. After using a waiver claim on second-year pro Kellen Mond, the Browns have brought back former first-round QB Josh Rosen as a practice squad member. Rosen was originally let go by the team during final cuts at the 53-man roster deadline.

Rosen was in competition with Joshua Dobbs throughout the preseason for the backup gig behind Jacoby Brissett, but ultimately lost that battle. Across three contests, Rosen completed 17 of his 33 pass attempts for 186 yards. He failed to show any true upside running Kevin Stefanski's offense.
As a vested veteran, Rosen did not have to clear waivers and was free to sign anywhere following his release. It's a logical move to return to the team that gave him a chance back in July. He'll have a shot to develop as he waits for an opportunity to arise, whether that's with the Browns or another team.
Overall, the 25-year-old has posted a 3-13 record across 16 career NFL starts. Rosen has posted a completion percentage of 54.0% to go along with 2,864 passing yards, 12 touchdowns and 21 interceptions. Cleveland is the sixth different team he has been signed by in four years.
The Browns now have four quarterbacks in the building and will have a fifth when Deshaun Watson returns from an 11-game suspension in Week 13. None of these players were in the locker room last season, though. Starter Baker Mayfield was traded and backup Case Keenum left in free agency.
Cleveland has odds set at +3000 to win Super Bowl 57, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
