The Milwaukee Brewers pulled off a big trade earlier this week, acquiring Jesse Winker and Abraham Toro from the Settle Mariners in exchange for second baseman Kolten Wong.

With some depth now gone in the infield, the Brewers made another move on Saturday, albeit this one has a bit less fanfare. The Brewers signed veteran infielder Eddy Alvarez to a minor-league contract.

Alvarez spent last season with the Los Angeles Dodgers, but only appeared in 14 games. Alvarez does hold major defensive versatility though. He played games at third base, shortstop, right field, and left field last season.

The risk is almost zero for the Brewers with Alvarez signing a minor-league contract, but he does provide some veteran depth heading into Spring Training next season.

Milwaukee is currently sitting at +3900 odds to win the World Series next season, according to FanDuel Sportsbook's latest MLB odds.
