Milwaukee Brewers fans have been waiting nearly two months for Adrian Houser's MLB return from an elbow injury. The 29-year-old starting pitcher has been rehabbing with Triple-A Nashville in recent weeks, but fans were recently given a scare when he missed a scheduled start on Sunday.

Fortunately, there's no reason for Brewers fans to be worried. Team insider Adam McCalvy reports that Houser's scratch "was not health-related" and that he's back with Milwaukee at Dodgers Stadium as of Monday night.

Adrian Houser Injury Update

McCalvy also added that there's a chance that Houser could start in place for the struggling Aaron Ashby against the Dodgers on Wednesday. Ashby has been dreadful lately, going 1-7 in his last 12 starts with a 5.91 ERA, so it makes sense why the Brewers may role with their returning hurler.

Houser has a lot to prove whenever he takes the mound. His 2022 campaign has been far from stellar as well. Before his injury, the former 2011 second-round pick was 4-8 in 15 starts with a 4.72 ERA and 1.480 WHIP, giving up 9.7 hits per nine innings pitched.

The good news is that his rehab performances were encouraging for the most part. Although he didn't earn the win in any of his three starts with the Sounds, Houser gave up just three runs on six hits while striking out 10 batters over 8.2 innings, finishing with a 3.24 ERA.

Time will tell if Houser builds upon these encouraging rehab performances and return to last season's form. The Brewers could certainly use that type of arm in their rotation if they're going to grab one of the National League's final wild card spots.
