The Atlanta Braves suffered a crushing injury blow on Friday when starting pitcher Ian Anderson headed to the 10-day injured list. It's currently unclear how long Anderson could be sidelined with his right shoulder inflammation injury, but he at least has avoided potential surgery thus far.

Fortunately for Atlanta, the Braves got a bit of good news on the injury front as well. Atlanta is set to reinstate right-handed pitcher Touki Toussaint from the 60-day IL in a corresponding roster move.

Atlanta Braves Injury Update

Toussaint hasn't seen the mound during the 2021 MLB season after he was diagnosed with a strained shoulder back in late March. After a lengthy stint on the 60-day IL, the 25-year-old pitched made six rehab appearances in the Minor Leagues this past month.

It looks like Toussaint will be ready to assume Anderson's role in the starting rotation for the time being. During his six rehab appearances, the young righty pitched 6.0 innings twice during that span.

Currently, the Braves sit at 44-45 and trail the New York Mets by 4.0 games in the NL East standings. Atlanta owns +4600 odds to win the World Series, according to the latest MLB odds on FanDuel Sportsbook.
